The UK on Wednesday reported 39,329 cases and 214 coronavirus-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period.
The number of cases is higher than those reported on Tuesday when 33,117 cases were recorded, but lower than last Wednesday when 41,299 cases were recorded.
Meanwhile, the number of fatalities represents a decline from the 262 deaths reported on Tuesday but is slightly lower compared to the 217 deaths reported last Wednesday.
Wednesday's figures mean a total of 9,406,001 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 142,338 have died from the disease in the UK. On the other hand, separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) indicate there have been 167,367 deaths registered in the UK where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
Elsewhere, a further 39,836 first vaccine doses were delivered meaning a total of 50,336,130 had been delivered in the UK by November 8. Additionally, 45,894,237 second doses have been delivered, representing an increase of 21,199 second doses.
A combined total of 10,920,416 booster and third doses have also been administered, a day-on-day rise of 340,294, according to government figures.
