Thousands of people in the Sudanese capital Khartoum marched to the presidential palace against the military coup that took place two months ago.
The Sunday protests coincided with the third anniversary of demonstrations that led to the dethronement of former leader Omar al-Bashir.
People in the country have continued to hold protests against the Oct.25 coup despite the reinstatement of the prime minister last month. They are demanding that the military should not be engaged at all in government.
Protesters gathered less than a kilometre from the palace, chanting "the people are stronger and retreat is impossible", with some darting into side streets to dodge tear gas that was being hurled at them.
They however marched and reached the gates of the palace.
Demonstrations were also planned in other cities across Sudan including Port, El-Deain, Madani and Kassala.
