M6.9 earthquake strikes northwest China's Qinghai: CENC

A 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit Menyuan County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Qinghai Province at 1:45 a.m. local time on Saturday,  with a focal depth of 10 kilometers ,  the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) reported.

Three aftershocks later were reported, 4.1-magnitude, 3.0-magnitude and 5.1-magnitude respectively.

According to CENC, the epicenter was about 54 kilometers away from the county and 136 kilometers from Xining City.

The tremor was also felt in some neighboring areas, such as Gansu Province, Shaanxi Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, according to the report of Global Times.
