The reigning Africa Football Champions Algeria have been bundled out of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon. The North Africans were beaten 3-1 by two times champions Cote d'ivoire. The Elephants of West African opened the scoresheet in the 22 minute courtesy of Franck Kessie before Ibrahim Sangare made it 2 nil in the 39th minute.

Nikolas Pepe who plays for English Premiership side Arsenal scored the third goal for Cote d'ivoire in the 54th minute. But Algeria pulled one back in the 73rd minute through Sofiane Bendebka.

Cote d'ivoire is now through to the round of 16, they joined Equatorial Guinea who beat Sierra Leone 1-0.
