India's national drugs regulator the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) on Thursday gave nod to market authorization of two COVID-19 vaccines, Covaxin and Covishield, under certain conditions.

An expert body, the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), had recommended for the upgradation of status for the vaccines from restricted use in emergency situations to market approval with conditions in the adult population.

As per the conditions, firms shall submit vaccination data to the DCGI every six months.
