Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday appealed to foreign nations, institutions and bodies, to return Nigeria's artefacts still in their possession.
President Buhari's call comes following the return of two important Nigerian artefacts from the UK, more than a century after they were pillaged by British troops.
He vowed that the Nigerian government will pursue the repatriation of its artefacts vigorously.
President Buhari pledged that the Nigerian government would ensure that the artefacts are put to good and proper use on their return in museums and other facilities in conjunction with the royal families and kingdoms that lost these artefacts.
He acknowledged Germany's readiness to repatriate 1,130 Benin Bronzes to Nigeria from many of its public museums.
He also noted that talks were still underway to have even more artefacts repatriated from the foreign countries where they currently lie.
