The G7 countries discussed this week the possibility of new releases of oil from strategic reserves, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said at a briefing on Friday.

"Yes, (these ideas) were raised, especially during the G7 meeting. That was the main topic of discussion, the question is what tools do we have at our disposal in order to deal with world oil prices," Sullivan said during a briefing in Friday. The G7 talks were held the day before in Brussels.

In early March, the U.S. President Joe Biden, ordered the release of about 30 million barrels of oil from the strategic reserve in connection with the situation around Ukraine. In total, according to the plans of the United States and allies, up to 60 million barrels of oil are planned to be released to combat rising energy prices.
