U.S. President Joe Biden spoke on the telephone with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy over the ongoing military operation in the Eastern European country.
According to the White House, the two leaders spoke about the ongoing work by the U.S. and its allies and partners to deliver military, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and to impose severe costs on Russia for its brutal aggression against Ukraine.
The call also touched on Washington's efforts aimed at fulfilling the main security assistance requests by Kyiv.
"President Biden informed President Zelenskyy that the United States intends to provide the Ukrainian government with $500 million in direct budgetary aid," the White House said.
The call came five days after Biden travelled to Brussels and Warsaw for talks with NATO leaders and other stakeholders regarding the situation in Ukraine.
