Jamaica's three-time Olympic Gold medalist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson are scheduled to compete at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya on May 7, organizers announced on Wednesday.
The two are the latest stars to be unveiled by the organizers ahead of the one-day-meet championship.
Besides winning three Olympic gold medals in her explosive career Fraser-Pryce also boasts of four Olympic silver medals, one Olympic bronze and nine World Championship golds.
Richardson continues her return to top competition after being kicked off the U.S. 2020 Summer Olympics team for testing positive for cannabis use.
Before the Tokyo Olympics, she recorded the 6th fastest time in 100 meters. Her personal best stands at 10.72 seconds.
Other athletes that are expected for the Kip Keino Classic include the Olympic 3000m steeplechase champion Peruth Chemutai of Uganda, World Indoor Championships Bronze medalist Abel Kipsang and World Championships Silver medalist Margaret Chelimo.
The Kip Keino Classic is part of the Continental Tour Gold series by World Athletics. The action-packed event boasts top talents from Africa and other continents giving athletes a chance to compete at an international level while reaching fans all over the world.
A total of 265 athletes competed at the 2021 event with the two-time World 100m winner Justin Gatlin the star attraction.
