Turkey has closed its airspace to Russian military and civilian planes flying to Syria, TASS news agency reported citing Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

"We closed our air space for Russian military and even civilian planes heading to Syria. [Each time], we were issuing a three-month permit. The permit expires in April. Our president also told this to Putin. Afterwards, the flights were suspended," Cavusoglu said.

Also asked about the possibility of his country imposing sanctions on Russians, the foreign minister replied that Turkey “does not participate in sanctions.”
