Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reiterated his call for a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for talks on ending the military operation in his country.

Zelenskyy told a news conference in Kyiv, saying that he was "not afraid to meet" Putin if it would lead to a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

Kyiv has plunged into chaos after Russian forces launched a military offensive against Ukraine.

On Friday, the United Nations announced that the Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is scheduled to meet Putin in Moscow on April 26 for talks.
