The center-left Freedom Movement (FM), headed by Robert Golob, was set to win the Slovenian general election on Sunday, according to the exit poll released by local media after the voting stations closed.
FM received 35.8 percent of the vote, followed by the center-right Slovenian Democratic Party led by incumbent Prime Minister Janez Jansa with 22.5 percent, the exit poll showed.
The new parliament is due to convene by the middle of May, following which the Freedom Movement is expected to form a new government in coalition with smaller center-left parties.
