A candidate for Somalia's Sunday Presidential election has resigned just hours before the vote.
Dahir Mahmoud Guelleh, a former Information Minister, announced on social media that he was withdraw his candidature from the long awaited vote.
He did not give a reason for the withdrawal.
Guelleh called on members of parliament to elect a good leader, saying "this is a necessary symbol of change in Somalia."
Ahead of Sunday's vote, electoral authorities registered 39 candidates, also including the incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed and two former presidents.
