German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Senegal on Sunday to begin his three-nation tour of the continent.
Scholz was received by President Macky Sall in Dakar, where they held talks on various issues.
The German Chancellor said he picked Senegal as the first stop of his tour "because the partnership that connects us is becoming more and more important."
He pointed out that his country intends to work with Senegal on renewable energy and liquefied natural gas.
The German Chancellor is also expected to visit Niger and South Africa.
