Senegalese President Macky Sall, in his capacity as the current Chairman of the African Union, on Tuesday held a virtual meeting with members of the European Council to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

According to the Senegalese Presidency, the meeting focused on the food crisis caused by the conflict.

Sall's meeting came just days after he pledged to visit Ukraine and Russia in a few weeks to lobby leaders in both countries to end the blockade on grain exports to African countries.
