Twelve suspects were arraigned before a South African court on Monday in relation to charges of murder, following a gun attack last week that left six people dead in Alexandra, Gauteng Province.
The matter was however postponed for verification of address, profiling and bail.
All suspects were however remanded in custody.
South Africa has been dogged by gun violence in recent weeks, with tens of people killed in various locations across the country.
Last weekend, 16 people were killed by shooters at a tavern in Soweto, an incident that received wide condemnation from the government.
Before that, four other gun attacks killed 10 people cumulatively in South Africa.
Following the Soweto shooting, President Cyril Ramaphosa urged unity in the fight against crime in South Africa.
Police have pledged to deploy all resources to bring the perpetrators of the violence under book.
