Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess will step down from the board of the German auto giant, the carmaker said in a statement on Friday.

Herbert Diess "will leave the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG by mutual consent with effect as of September 1 2022," Volkswagen said. Oliver Blume, the CEO of the Porsche sports car brand, part of the Volkswagen family, will take over from Diess.
