The United Nations peacekeeping mission in Mali, MINUSMA, is to resume contingent rotations from Monday under fresh approval measures, according to the Malian foreign minister Abdoulaye Diop.

"MINUSMA agreed to the new procedures and communicated them to all countries contributing troops. There will be no exception," Malian foreign minister said on Saturday.

He added that all requests must go through MINUSMA, which will then forward them to the foreign ministry.

Previously, different contingents had to seek approval directly from the Malian authorities.

On Saturday, MINUSMA's spokeswoman Myriam Dessables also confirmed the resumption of rotations.
