Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur played out a draw on Sunday at Stamford Bridge in their second game of the Premier League season, a game which saw tempers flare but left both sides ruing missed chances.

The Blues hit first after 19 minutes as new defensive signings Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly combined for a goal, the Senegalese player thumping home a well delivered corner kick by the Spaniard.

The score remained so until the 68th minute when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg responded for Spurs with a well-drilled shot to the back of Edouard Mendy's net, a goal Chelsea players deemed unfair as they felt Kai Havertz was fouled in the build-up.

The goal caused a commotion on the touch line as Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel seemed to clash their bodies together with contrasting emotions.

Reece James put Chelsea in front again in the 77th minute, sparking thunderous celebrations on the stands.

The Blues could not however hang on to that lead as Harry Kane nodded an equalizer deep in stoppage time to ensure his side picked a crucial point.

After the final whistle, Conte went over to give Tuchel a handshake, but the Chelsea tactician seemed to want more engagement, holding on to the Italian and leading to another confrontation.

Both managers were issued with red cards for that confrontation.

The result means Tottenham stand fourth on the log as Chelsea are in seventh place.
