Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has directed relevant authorities to respond to the fire incident a church in Giza.
El-Sisi's directive comes after reports that at least 41 people were killed in a massive fire that broke out in a Coptic church in Egypt's Giza Province on Sunday.
The fire started from an air conditioner on the second floor of the church building because of an electrical fault, the Egyptian Interior Ministry said in a statement.
"I am closely following the developments in the tragic incident at Al-Munira Church in Giza governorate," el-Sisi said in a statement.
"I gave directives to all relevant state authorities and institutions to take all necessary measures to deal with the incident and its effects promptly and provide all healthcare to the wounded. I extend my sincerest condolences to the families of the innocent victims, who passed away in one of God's places of worship."
The Egyptian first lady also sent out a message of condolence to the affected families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
