Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta says his side still have room for improvement despite taking the league leadership three games into the season.

The Londoners took top spot on Saturday with an emphatic 3-0 win over Bournemouth, although Manchester City, who have six points from two games, are still yet to play.

The goals came from club captain Martin Odegaard who netted twice and William Saliba, who has had an impressive start to life in England.

"I am very happy. It's really difficult to come here and win 3-0. So credit to the boys, the way we played, especially the way we started the game and continued to play," said Arteta.

"It's not easy and we have a good example when they played Aston Villa how different the game was and how different the game became in some parts of the second half as well. At the same time, we have to look at ourselves and in many areas we can still get much better," he added.

The Gunners began the season with a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace, before seeing off Leicester City 4-2 in their second game.

Up next for the Gunners is a trip to Fulham, who are ranked 4 after garnering 5 points from their first three games.

Arteta in his post-match briefing was asked about his assessment of Arsenal's progress since he took charge.

"It takes time to get something. From the players that we have today to the players that we had at the time, it's been a massive massive change, and I'm happy. Everyone feels more attached to the team, the club and the way we're playing, and we're winning football matches," he said.
