Kenyan President William Ruto departed Nairobi on Sunday for London, where he is scheduled to join leaders representing nearly 200 countries and territories for the burial of Queen Elizabeth II.

The UK visit is Ruto's first foreign trip since he took oath of office on September 13 following the country's general elections.

He was accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, and other high-level government officials.

According to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, the country's state-owned television station, Ruto is scheduled to be hosted for a dinner by King Charles III upon his arrival in the UK.

He will then proceed to a World Leaders Service prepared for the world leaders present.

After the Queen's burial, President Ruto is scheduled to travel to the United States for further official engagements.

While there, he will join other world leaders for the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 20.

His schedule also has plans to hold talks with U.S. President Joe Biden, as well as meet captains of the American Chamber of commerce.
