President of Guinea-Bissau visits Kyiv after trip to Moscow
President of Guinea-Bissau and Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Umaro Sissoco Embalo arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy welcomed his visit – the first leader of an African state to visit Ukraine after February 24.
Among an extended range of topics, the two leaders discussed in detail Ukraine's efforts to overcome the global food crisis, in particular the export of Ukrainian food from Black Sea ports and the possibility of creating a grain hub in the ECOWAS countries, Zelenskyy's office said in a statement.
"Warm talks on strengthening relations between Ukraine and Guinea-Bissau," Sissoco Embalo later tweeted.
Sissoco Embalo visited Moscow on Tuesday and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The ECOWAS chairman expressed his willingness to facilitate a dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.
