Arsenal saw off Nottingham Forest 5-0 on Sunday to storm back into the top of the Premier League standings ahead of defending champions Manchester City.
The Londoners took the lead in the fifth minute when Gabriel Martinelli headed home a Bukayo Saka cross, setting the tone for an imposing performance at the Emirates Stadium.
The goal provider was substituted off in the 27 minutes after picking up an injury, with Reiss Nelson taking his place.
The hosts continued to push for more goals, but only doubled their lead four minutes after the half-time break through Nelson, his first Arsenal goal since November 2020.
Three minutes later, he added a second to take Arsenal three goals up.
Thomas Partey thumped home a fourth in the 57th minute with skipper Martin Odegaard rounding off the win with a neat finish into the top of the net with 12 minutes of normal time to play.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his side's show after the game, saying it was an important result following Thursday’s loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League.
"Big teams have to respond as quick as possible and we did that," he said.
"After the disappointment of Thursday night, you don't have time. We got here Friday evening. One half-training session, and be ready again, not only physically but mentally against a team that beat Liverpool.
"The pressure is on. You lose the first place and you are there. We need to get used to that."
Next up for Arsenal is a short trip to fellow London side Chelsea.
