Ethiopia, TPLF draw a plan for disarmament

Talks between the senior commanders of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) to draw up a plan for the disarmament of the fighters and subsequent rehabilitation reached a successful agreement on Saturday. 

This follows the signing of a pact by the two sides committing to ending hostilities. The agreement comes after the the truce that was reached at in the South African capital Pretoria after 10 days of negotiations between the leaders of the Ethiopian government and Tigray. 

The signing ceremony of the declaration of the commanders meeting on the implementation of the Ethiopia cessation of hostilities was witnessed in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

Uhuru Kenyatta, former Kenyan President said that "Our key priority was to silence the guns", adding that it is also important to aid in humanitarian support.

Former Nigerian president and African Union envoy Olesegun Obasanjo said access to humanitarian aid in Ethiopia will begin immediately. Most of the aid will be transported by road but provisions have been made to also employ air transport, according to Obasanjo.
