One man shot dead during Kenya protests: hospital

One man was shot dead during protests in the western Kenyan city of Kisumu of Monday, a hospital chief told AFP, as opposition leader Raila Odinga pressed ahead with a rally despite a ban.

"One person was shot dead. He is unknown, he is a young man," said George Rae, CEO of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital in Kisumu. It was the second death reported since the demonstrations began last week.
