At least seven people were killed after a boat capsized in Luangwa District in Lusaka Province, Zambian Vice President Mutale Nalumango said on Tuesday.
Four bodies have been retrieved while a search for the remaining three bodies was currently underway, Nalumango was quoted by the state broadcaster Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation as saying.
So far, she could not give the circumstances that could have caused the accident, but warned transporters against overloading to prevent avoidable accidents.
The government will not tolerate any transporters for negligence, she added.
Last week, 14 people died when a boat capsized on Lake Bangweulu in Luapula Province due to strong waves and winds.
