Thirty-six students were injured or fell unconscious when a fire erupted in an academy in the capital city Quetta of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Tuesday, hospital administration said.

The Medical Superintendent of the Civil Hospital Quetta, where all affected students were shifted, said that 10 of them got burn injuries while 26 others fell unconscious after inhaling smoke.

The official, Ishaq Panezai, told media that conditions of all the students were stable, and they will be discharged after treatment.

The accident happened in the academy when the students were preparing for a test for medical studies.
