French minister urges 'immediate' solution to Channel tunnel closure

An immediate solution must be found to the strike action that has resulted in the closing of the Channel tunnel, France's transport minister said on Thursday.

"The blocking of the Channel tunnel is unacceptable. An immediate solution must be found," Transport Minister Clement Beaune wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "I call on everyone to be responsible and ensure good conditions for traffic and holiday departures."
