The year of 2024 could end up being hotter than the record-shattering 2023, the United Nations said Friday, as it urged drastic emissions cuts to combat climate change.

Celeste Saulo, the new head of UN's World Meteorological Organization, said that because the El Nino weather phenomenon's strongest warming effects were set to kick in this year, "2024 could be even hotter".
