West African bloc ECOWAS on Tuesday said it "encourages" member state Senegal to urgently restore the electoral timetable after this month's presidential election was delayed until December 15.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) said in a statement on social media that it "encourages the political class to take steps urgently to restore the electoral calendar".
