Hezbollah denied on Saturday allegations by Israeli media that the Shiite militant group targeted Majdal Shams in the annexed Golan Heights, killing ten Israelis.
In a statement, Hezbollah said it had "absolutely nothing to do with the incident" and dismissed the allegations as false.
Various media outlets reported on Saturday evening that ten Israelis were killed and over 30 wounded in a Hezbollah rocket attack on Majdal Shams.
In a statement following Hezbollah's denial, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that "following assessments carried out in the IDF and the intelligence available to us, the rocket fire at Majdal Shams was carried out by Hezbollah."
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border have escalated since October 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the previous day. Israel retaliated with heavy artillery fire into southeastern Lebanon.
