China's Li Fabin retained his Olympic title in the men's 61kg weightlifting division at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.

Li, 31, set an Olympic record of 143kg in the snatch and lifted 167kg in the clean and jerk to go with a winning total of 310kg.

This is the first weightlifting event contested at Paris 2024. Theerapong Silachai of Thailand bagged the silver medal with 303kg, while Hampton Morris of the United States took the bronze with 298kg.
