China wins gold in men's table tennis team event

CGTN

China won the gold medal in the men's table tennis team event after crushing Sweden 3-0 on Friday.

The win meant China successfully defended the title they won at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo. China has never lost in this event at the Olympics, having won all the tournaments since the 2008 Games in Beijing.

The victory was a memorable one for Chinese player Ma Long, who was China's male flag-bearer at the opening ceremony, as he claimed his sixth gold medal. With six gold medals, Ma Long has the most golds of any Chinese athlete in Olympic history.

China has dominated table tennis since it became an Olympic sport in 1988 winning 32 out of the 37 available gold medals.
