Haitian leader Edgard Leblanc Fils called Thursday for countries to consider turning the multinational policing operation in his crime-torn country into a UN peacekeeping mission.
"We would like to see a thought being given to transforming the security support mission into a peacekeeping mission under the mandate of the United Nations," Leblanc Fils, the coordinator of Haiti's transitional council, told the UN General Assembly.
