Sustainable Business Leaders Forum kicks off in Nairobi

Attendees at the 2025 Sustainable Business Leaders Forum (SBLF), held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Leaders from the public and private sector gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, on Tuesday, December 16, for the 2025 Sustainable Business Leaders Forum (SBLF), a high-level international meeting aimed at advancing sustainable business practices and leadership.

Co-initiated by multiple UN agencies, international platforms and Chinese standardization bodies, the forum echoed growing global expectations for businesses to play a key role in driving sustainable transformation.

By building an international dialogue platform, organizers sought to gather diverse forces to deeply explore new paradigms in the development of sustainable business and leadership.

Guo Haiyang, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya and Permanent Representative to United Nations Environment Programme and United Nations Human Settlements Programme, delivered opening remarks at the event. 

She highlighted the achievements of Chinese and Kenyan enterprises in realizing sustainable development and expressed hope for strengthened China–Africa cooperation in this area in the future.

Alison Gray Cairns, Head of Private Sector Unit of United Nations Environment Program, highlighted the importance of new market and policy system. 

Among other speakers, Si Da, Vice President and Chief Brand Officer of BOE Technology Group, elaborated on BOE's sustainable brand building practices, centered on the core concept of "Open Next Earth".

During the event, entrepreneurs from China and Africa engaged in dialogues and shared insights centered on "Creating Earth-friendly Sustainable Business".

As significant outcomes of the forum, the "Guidelines for Building Sustainable Brands" voluntary sustainability standards and the "Sustainable Business Leaders Forum" annual report were officially released.
