CAF publishes latest Champions League and Confed Cup fixtures

Africa’s premier club competitions return this month, with headline fixtures in both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup setting the tone for a decisive phase of the group stage.

Among the standout ties, record champions Al Ahly host Tanzania's Young Africans in Cairo, while the Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Al Hilal in Pretoria with these matches set to underline what is at stake as the race for the quarter-finals sharpens.

CAF confirmed upcoming fixtures on Thursday. Play resumes on Friday, January 23, and continues through that weekend.

Two group rounds were completed before the AFCON break, revealing early favorites while leaving several groups delicately balanced. Matchday Three, in particular, offers little room for error, with momentum and squad depth beginning to come into play.

In the Champions League, 12-time champions Al Ahly open the round on Friday against Tanzania’s Young Africans, kicking off at 16:00 GMT in Cairo. Later that day, South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns face Sudanese side Al Hilal at Loftus Versfeld.

The Confederation Cup program begins on Saturday, January 24, with a high-profile match in Algiers, where Algeria’s USM Alger host Djoliba AC of Mali. This fixture opens the round of Confederation Cup matches and offers an early indication of how the balance of power may shift in the competition’s group rounds, with both sides looking to assert themselves at the halfway stage.
