The Metolong Dam and Water Supply Programme (MDWSP) is a critical infrastructure project in Lesotho, constructed to secure water for the capital region. Located on the Phuthiatsana River near Maseru, its core purpose is to provide a reliable, treated water supply to the Greater Maseru Area and surrounding towns.

The project features an 83-meter concrete-faced rockfill dam and a water treatment plant capable of processing 60 million liters daily.

Built primarily by Sinohydro (PowerChina), the dam began impoundment in 2015. MDWSP is a transformative national "lifeline," now supplying clean water to about one-third of Lesotho's population. It is celebrated as a model of South-South cooperation, combining international financing, engineering, and supervision.
