Libya has uncovered mass graves containing the remains of 21 migrants during a security raid on a private firm, local media reported citing Libya's Internal Security Agency (ISA).
According to preliminary information, the victims; migrants of various nationalities were allegedly killed by a Libyan suspect with a previous criminal record, who has since been arrested.
The operation also revealed that several migrants were being forcibly detained in a makeshift holding facility on the same farm. According to the reports, the detainees were in poor health, with some suffering from gunshot wounds.
The injured migrants were transferred to Martyr Mohammed Al-Muqrif Central Teaching Hospital in Ajdabiya to receive medical treatment.
The ISA said it had carried out intelligence gathering and surveillance of the site prior to launching the raid, according to local media outlets including Al-Wasat and Al-Shahid.
