Thailand’s Bhumjaithai Party, led by Acting Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, emerged as the largest party in the House of Representatives, according to preliminary results released by the Election Commission of Thailand.

Television projections of the elections on Sunday, February 8, showed the party winning by a wide margin.

Speaking at party headquarters in Bangkok, Anutin claimed victory and thanked voters for their support.

He said he appreciated the trust placed in his party and pledged to serve all Thai people, regardless of how they voted.

The progressive People’s Party was projected to trail, followed by the Pheu Thai Party.
