Yusuf Murangwa, Rwanda's Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, unveiled a revised national budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year on Thursday, cutting 80.4 billion Rwandan francs (approximately $55 million) due to changes in financing arrangements.

The updated budget, presented before Parliament in Kigali, now stands at 6.95 trillion francs, slightly lower than the 7 trillion francs approved in June 2025.

According to Murangwa, the revision follows the securing of more affordable concessional and domestic financing for key national projects, including the second phase of the new Kigali International Airport in Bugesera District.

The improved financing terms reduced funding needs by 198 million francs.

He noted that the recurrent budget has been lowered, reflecting adjustments in public debt servicing, subsidies, and spending on goods and services.

At the same time, capital and development expenditure have increased, underscoring Rwanda's continued investment in infrastructure and strategic national priorities.
