President Donald Trump on Monday left open the possibility that the US could acquire Iranian oil.
While he acknowledged that the idea had been discussed, Trump declined to say whether he would support seizing Iranian oil resources.
"Certainly, people have talked about it," he told NBC News, adding that it was "too soon to talk about that."
The comments come as Washington presses ahead with a joint military campaign with Israel against Iran.
On Monday, oil prices rose to nearly $120 a barrel amid fears of a lengthy supply disruption.
