A Sudanese-led initiative facilitating the voluntary return of nationals from Egypt has introduced a new transport route and cautioned against fraudulent fees.

The Al-Amal Committee, formed by Sudanese business figures, said Saturday that the updated route is designed to ease travel for returnees heading back to Sudan, particularly those carrying large amounts of luggage.

Under the plan, travelers will take a train from Ramses Station in Cairo to Aswan, before continuing by steamboat along the river to Wadi Halfa.

The committee said the route allows up to 100 kilograms of luggage per person, which offers greater flexibility for families relocating after months of displacement.

It stressed that all services under the program, including registration, coordination, and transport, are provided free of charge, warning that no agents or intermediaries are authorized to collect payments or offer preferential access.

Applicants have been urged to register only through the official online platform and avoid sharing personal information with unauthorized parties.

The announcement comes as growing numbers of Sudanese in Egypt prepare to return home, with voluntary return programs having facilitated more than 428,000 returns by the end of 2025.
