Mount Tai, located north of Tai'an City in Shandong Province, is the highest peak in eastern China. For over 3,000 years, it has been a sacred site of worship and one of the country’s most important ceremonial centers. In 1987, UNESCO designated Mount Tai a World Heritage Site for its profound historical, cultural, and religious significance, as well as its breathtaking natural landscape.
As we mark the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, we invite you to join a live broadcast from this legendary mountain. Mount Tai embodies the ancient Chinese philosophy of harmony between heaven and humanity — values of resilience, dignity, and unity that resonate deeply with Africa’s rich heritage. From the snow-capped peaks of Kilimanjaro to the source of the Nile, Africa’s landscapes are also imbued with sacred meaning. By sharing our natural and cultural treasures, China and Africa can build bridges of understanding and respect, writing a new chapter of mutual learning and shared progress.
