Baili Azalea Scenic Area, located in Bijie City of Guizhou Province, is home to the world’s largest and most diverse natural azalea forest, spanning over 125.8 square kilometers. Often dubbed the “Colorful Ribbon of the Earth” and the “Kingdom of Azalea,” it stands as one of China’s most breathtaking springtime landscapes.
Now in full bloom, more than 60 species of azalea flowers paint the mountains in vibrant shades of red, pink, and white. Layer upon layer of blossoms sweep across the hills, creating a spectacular sea of flowers that feels almost dreamlike to walk through.
Guided by a commitment to balancing conservation and development, local authorities have strengthened ecological protection through initiatives such as reforestation, rocky desertification control, and sustainable forest management. At the same time, new tourism models—like combining the flower forest with hot spring experiences—are helping unlock the area’s full potential. According to official figures, the scenic area welcomed over 2.13 million visitors during the 2025 summer season, reflecting a successful balance between environmental preservation and tourism growth.
Amid the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, CGTN Africa presents this vibrant floral spectacle, offering African audiences a glimpse into the vitality of spring in China.
