Tucked away in southwest China's Yunnan Province, Jianchuan is a town where artistry and history are woven into daily life. Surrounded by scenic landscapes and mild, spring-like weather year-round, it is best known for its intricate woodcarving tradition passed down through generations.

Located in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Jianchuan was once a key stop along the ancient Tea Horse Road.

What makes Jianchuan unique is its living heritage; over 90 percent of its homes are traditional dwellings, many still inhabited, preserving the town's cultural identity.
