At least 10 people have died in Kenya following days of heavy rainfall that triggered flash floods across several parts of the country, authorities said.

The National Police Service said the eastern region has been hardest hit, with seven fatalities reported there. Rescue operations are ongoing in multiple affected areas as emergency teams work to reach stranded residents.

Police said the floods have caused widespread destruction, including damage to homes, displacement of communities, and the closure of key roads. The collapse of two major bridges has also disrupted transport and the movement of goods in parts of the eastern and coastal regions.

Officials have urged residents, particularly those in flood-prone areas, to remain alert, avoid crossing flooded areas and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.

The latest deaths add to a growing toll from extreme weather events in Kenya.

Authorities said at least 112 people were killed by floods in March, highlighting the increasing impact of climate-related disasters in the region.
