At least 11 civilians were killed and dozens wounded after a drone strike hit a market in Abu Zaeima town in Sudan's North Kordofan state on Saturday, according to rights group Emergency Lawyers.
The group said the attack targeted the town's main market and warned the death toll could rise. No party immediately claimed responsibility, and neither the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) nor the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commented.
The strike came amid a surge in drone attacks across the Kordofan region, where nearly 70 people were reportedly killed in two separate strikes earlier this week. The United Nations says at least 880 civilians were killed in drone attacks across Sudan between January and April.
Sudan's conflict between the army and the RSF, now in its fourth year, has displaced more than 11 million people and created what the UN describes as the world's largest displacement and hunger crisis.
