Egypt is expanding its solar power capacity with help from Chinese technology. 

The Obelisk solar project in southern Egypt generates about 1.1 gigawatts of electricity and features large-scale battery storage to support the national grid. 

The $600 million project also uses automated systems and solar-powered robots to improve efficiency and maintain the panels. Meanwhile, rural communities are adopting smaller solar projects to reduce their reliance on unreliable power grids.
