Algeria has severed diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates after what it described as the "exhaustion of all means to preserve bilateral ties", Algerian state media reported on Thursday, without providing further details on the reasons for the decision.

The UAE Foreign Ministry is yet to respond on the matter.
